The Continental Introduces Summer Tasting Menu

The Continental, the sophisticated all-day dining destination at Pacific Place, has launched an all-new tasting menu and refreshed the a la carte menu for the summer, introducing a wide range of dishes made with the season’s best ingredients.

Emphasising high-quality ingredients carefully sourced by Executive Chef Rowley Leigh, the new Summer menu includes a selection of seafood offerings while staying true to The Continental’s European spirit.

Guests who prefer a sample-and-savour approach to dining, can opt for the six-course Summer Tasting Menu priced from HK$680.

Among the cold starters debuting this season, Scallop Ceviche with Chilli and Lime (HK$160), provides fresh, crisp flavours to counter the summer heat.  The all-new Vitello Tonnato (HK$185) gives a classic recipe a cool makeover, while the Prawn and Melon Salad with Tomato and Pepper Salsa (HK$155) is a heavenly mix of plump juicy prawns, sweet melons and savoury salsa.

New hot starters include Griddled Octopus with Borlotti Beans (HK$145) and a sophisticated Shrimp Mousse with Oyster and Dill Sauce (HK$170). The Grilled Aubergine with Pesto (HK$95) is a classic vegetarian option that delights with its deceptively simple flavours.

Enticing new seafood mains include the Whole Sea Bass with Fennel and Lemon (HK$640, to share), Monkfish, Scallop and Prawn Brochette with Rosemary and Rouille (HK$270), and the Snapper Fillet with Sauce Vierge (HK$265), each dish served with either green salad and chips or new potatoes.

Poultry dishes include the Peppered Magret of Duck, Spinach and Apricot Coulis (HK$275) and Half Coquelet with Fennel and Chicken Livers (HK$225). As for meat-lovers, Veal Chops with Sage Butter (HK$380) and Lamb Chops with Chilli, Garlic and Mint (HK$335) from The Continental’s Josper grill are sure to satisfy.

“The Continental has always prided itself on working with only the best ingredients,” explains Rowley. “This summer, though, I’ve been hugely impressed with the consistent quality of products on offer. With so many great products in season, we were spoilt for choice, so we decided to introduce a tasting menu for guests who wish to sample a cross section of these amazing flavours.”

The six-course Summer Tasting Menu (HK$680, or $1,100 with wine pairings for each course) is available for daily dinner services (6:00 pm to 10:30 pm). Starting with the Warm Salad with Ceps and Foie Gras, guests can then sample the Scallop Ceviche with Chilli and Lime. Diners are then served Griddled Mackerel with Cucumber, Apple and Pea Shoots followed by the Peppered Magret of Duck with Spinach and Cherries. For dessert, Apricot Soufflé with Almond Ice Cream precedes a choice between the Selection of Cheeses with Fig Jam and Pickled Cherries or a trio of desserts including Raspberry Millefeuille, Chocolate and Salted Caramel Tart, and Passion Fruit and Strawberry Pavlova.

Diners at The Continental may dine indoors to enjoy the restaurant’s stylish and sophisticated décor, or take advantage of the warm summer weather and dine al fresco on the lush garden terrace.
